    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    This position involves Shift Work : this means working some nights and weekends.

     

    Data Management Coordinator (DMC): The International Space Station (ISS) Data Management Coordinator (DMC) is a Payload Operations Integration Center (POIC) flight controller position that configures, manages, and monitors the onboard International Space Station (ISS) data and video systems to capture and downlink various types of scientific and operational data that is generated during realtime payload/science operations. 

     

    The DMC position requires knowledge in communications, networks, and command systems and is responsible for maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the onboard data, video, and network systems that are configured, monitored, and managed during real-time science payload operations.  The DMC is also involved in console display requirements development, operational procedure development, testing and certification of operations flight readiness, and training. 

     

    The DMC is a command-certified flight controller position that reports to the Payload Operations Director (POD) during realtime operations.  The DMC coordinates data and video-related activities with flight controllers at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) and with International Partner (IP) flight controllers from the European and Japanese Space Agencies and is staffed 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    Requires a B.S. degree in a recognized field of engineering and a basic knowledge of analysis, design and test techniques. No prior work experience is required. Co-op or related sub-professional experience is desirable, but no mandatory.

     

    Other:

    Candidate must be team oriented, a self starter, and possess excellent verbal communication skills.


     

    Citizenship Requirements

    Due to classified work at the facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must maintain U.S. Citizenship to allow the person to hold a U.S. Government security clearance.
