    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    MAJOR DUTIES:

    • Assigns jobs to specific individuals based on specific skill requirements, ability of various workers, existing and anticipated workload.
    • Explains to workers the operations to be performed, the results to be accomplished and provides further assistance as necessary.
    • Makes recommendations to higher supervision regarding manpower needs and budgetary allocations.
    • Assures proper care of tools, equipment and facilities and the adherence to the principle of good housekeeping.
    • Makes recommendations to higher supervision regarding reclassifications, transfers and other employee status changes.
    • Puts into effect and secures compliance with company rules and regulations, recommending necessary disciplinary action when required.
    • Reviews operations regularly to detect any hazardous condition and takes action to correct them. Follows-up on standard safety precautions in order to prevent injuries and lost time accidents.
    • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all phases of cable operations and performs operations as required.
    • Practices on-the-job safety and housekeeping as required.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Assists Engineering in the design of prototype cable work by aiding in the selection and layout of components for speed and reliability.
    • Assists Planning and Scheduling personnel by reviewing quotes and new awards to determine faster and more reliable assembly methods.
    • Reports status of jobs in work to scheduling personnel to determine backlog of work and efficiency of work-in-process.
    • Designs fixtures and other apparatus for holding and assembly methods.

    Qualifications

    Requires a high school education or equivalent, plus eight (8) years cable experience.


     

    Citizenship Requirements

    Due to classified work at the facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must maintain U.S. Citizenship to allow the person to hold a U.S. Government security clearance.
