    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Position Summary:


    In this position, you will be responsible for technical oversight of the programs including conceiving, researching, and developing new technology in the field of HgCdTe infrared detectors. The candidate will work closely with a team of other Project Scientists.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


    • Develop improved material layer structures, processing methods, and device designs.
    • Lead efforts to improve existing technology for higher performance.
    • Identify and implement process improvements.
    • Communicate directly with customers related to details of their projects.
    • Additional responsibilities include device modeling, analyzing detector and focal plane data, developing DOEs.
    • Writing technical proposals to capture new programs, white papers, and technical reports.


    Qualifications & Competencies


    To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:


    • Strong background in opto-electronic semiconductor devices.
    • Knowledge of II-VI or III-V semiconductor materials, processes and devices (e.g. HgCdTe, II-VI and III-V Superlattices, InSb, InAs, InGaAs, GaSb, GaN, InP, etc.)
    • Experience in semiconductor technology development.
    • A strong technical knowledge in applied Physics, epitaxial growth/materials and semiconductor processing methods.
    • Device design and analysis is highly recommended.
    • Effective communication (written and verbal) of very complex ideas and the ability to communicate at any level of audience.
    • Strong technical writing and communication skills are required to submit whitepapers, proposals, technical reports and support customer reviews.
    • Track record of publishing peer-reviewed research in the fields of semiconductor devices and or in the field of HgCdTe (preferably both).


    Education and/or Experience

    • Ph.D. degree in Physics or a relevant engineering disciplines and preferably with five (5) years of experience.
