    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Summary Statement:

    Utilizes extensive knowledge of marine seismic air guns, gun controllers, and marine seismic data acquisition in providing technical product support to customers; provides product knowledge support to Inside Sales staff, production staff, and technical staff; performs offshore/onshore field service work; performs product assembly and testing.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provides technical product support to customers via email, telephone calls, and site visits to customer vessels. This includes answering technical product questions, troubleshooting product related problems, recommending solutions to technical problems, etc.
    • Provides technical product support to internal personnel including inside sales personnel, sales management personnel, technical personnel, and manufacturing personnel.
    • Performs hands-on assembly/disassembly, testing, troubleshooting, and installation of seismic source controllers and related products.
    • Performs field service work at customer sites (vessels) including installation of source controllers, troubleshooting and solving technical challenges with seismic sources, controllers, etc.
    • Reads and interprets drawings, technical documentation, and manufacturing and test/inspection documentation.
    • Uses and maintains manufacturing and test equipment.
    • Creates and edits user manuals, checklists, troubleshooting guides, etc.
    • Conducts user training activities.
    • Participates in product/process development and improvements.
    • Investigates, proposes, and implements approved corrective actions for problems/failures.
    • Perform all other duties requested, directed, or assigned.

    Citizenship Requirements

    Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a "U.S. Person" (US citizens, US nationals, lawful permanent residents, asylees or refugees).


    Education and Experience:

    • 10 years “hands-on” experience with seismic source controller installation, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
    • Technical degree preferred.
    • Experience handling customer inquiries, fielding technical questions, and offering technical solutions.
    • Customer service experience preferred.
    • Offshore Technical Field Service experience.
    • ERP knowledge/experience; Prefer experience with IFS.


    Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Extensive knowledge of seismic source controllers, including installation, integrations, operation, testing, troubleshooting and repairing.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Extensive knowledge of reading, interpreting and understanding technical drawings, diagrams, procedures, manuals and instructions.
    • Excellent working knowledge of safety requirements associated with marine seismic air guns, offshore environments, and marine seismic operations.
    • Ability to analyze and comprehend information and inquiries furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
    • Ability to respond to inquiries in writing and via telephone.
    • Good English communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and internal staff/management.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude.
    • Good computer skills and ability to comprehend ERP.
    • Self-starter with ability to work effectively with limited supervision.  

    Physical and Mental Demands:

    • Ability to work in an office environment, a production environment, and an offshore environment. Must be able to successfully complete offshore survival course and medical assessment required for offshore work.
    • Ability to respond to customer inquiries during non-standard work times.
    • Ability to travel globally as needed (approximately 30% travel)
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
    • Ability to retain job related information and instruction.
    • Ability to read and accurately interpret information.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in English with customers, coworkers and managers.
    • Ability to exchange accurate information.
    • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish colors, and ability to adjust focus.
