A Welding Engineer is responsible for all facets of qualifying, certifying and maintaining welding procedures and welder qualifications in a Nadcap certified shop governed by AWS, ASME and NAVSEA welding codes using conventional welding processes in various Quality Systems.
Education & Experience:
Requires a degree in engineering or physics or approximately seventeen years concentrated technical experience in a specialized area. Must include at least eight years in responsible positions involving analysis, design, development, or test. However, assignments are primarily made on the basis of demonstrated technical and leadership ability. Assignments in this classification require a high degree of specialization and practical knowledge, and a demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership to a group performing in a specialty area. May provide technical and administrative coordination over one or more advanced program areas. Extensive knowledge and experience are generally used as a primary qualification for rendering technical decisions and services.
