Provide Manufacturing Engineer support for the production of Vacuum Envelopes and Traveling Wave Tubes. Improve quality and productivity. Generate ECO/TECO’s. Design assembly and process tooling/fixtures. Solid understanding of mechanics, thermodynamics and materials. Work with vendors to ensure engineering design and quality is maintained. Test, implement and document tooling for applications requiring thermal, material, and tight tolerance specifications. Resolve production failures, implement corrective and preventive actions, to improve yield and lead times.
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Physics. Strong mechanical aptitude. Strong communication and computer skills. High vacuum and microwave electronics experience a plus. Experience in High-tech, low volume/high mix manufacturing a plus.
Ideal candidate would have experience with the following:
Strong communication and computer skills (Office, Acrobat).
Blueprint interpretation, GD&T dimensioning.
Mechanical drafting (AutoCAD) – 3D modeling (Inventor or equivalent)
Statistical Process Control, Six Sigma problem solving. Lean Manufacturing concept.
System administration level computer skills for production applications.
Additional Skills a plus:
Hi-potting and vacuum testing
High vacuum processing and product design
Resistance spot welding/ TIG/ Laser welding
Braze methods and fixture design
Experience in high-tech, low volume/high mix manufacturing
Microscopes/Automated inspection equipment
