    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Teledyne Marine Seismic is comprised of several business units that design and manufacture high-quality, reliable, and durable marine seismic exploration products.  For over four decades Teledyne has set the standard for marine geophysical exploration equipment. Characterized by innovative designs, Teledyne's marine seismic products have earned a reputation for high performance, reliability and low cost of ownership.

     

    The person in this position performs the physical and administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing and distributing of materials, parts, supplies and equipment.  Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of received goods and rejects unsatisfactory items.  Lifts heavy items and operates a forklift.  Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped.  Posts weights and shipping charges and prepares goods for final shipment.  Examines, stocks and distributes materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines.  May prepare kitting packages for assembly production, and performs all other duties as assigned.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide daily assignments and guidance to persons working in the Shipping/Receiving/Stores department.
    • Pull parts/materials from stockroom and kit them to fill manufacturing requirements.
    • Deliver kitted parts/materials to manufacturing departments and transact in ERP accordingly.
    • Monitor material usage in manufacturing departments and keep manufacturing department Kanbans stocked according to defined levels.
    • Enter data for inventory transactions in ERP system.
    • Package and load items for shipment.
    • Prepare/verify shipping documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable export regulations and all hazardous material packaging/labelling requirements.
    • Lead and perform cycle counts.
    • Reconcile discrepancies between ERP system and stock counts.
    • Unload delivery trucks.
    • Receive incoming items, disposition accordingly, and enter into ERP system.
    • May operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment and tools.
    • Provides assistance with other Shipping/Receiving/Stores functions such as:
      • Counting, weighing, or measuring items of incoming and outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
      • Assembling shipment containers/crates.
    • Develops/Improves and implements warehouse procedures where necessary.
    • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates degree preferred.
    • 5+ years of recent warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment, with a comprehensive knowledge/understanding of all warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory, kitting, trade compliance, hazmat, and documentation.
    • Forklift operator certification preferred.

    Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Computer competencies in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and other software programs as needed.
    • Good computer skills including with ERP systems as it pertains to Shipping, Receiving, and Stockroom functions.
    • Good working knowledge of export regulations
    • Good working knowledge of hazardous material packaging, labelling, and shipping requirements.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities, however the person in this position will serve as the Lead person in this department. As such, this position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with exceptional leadership professionalism.
    • Responsible for working with Supply Chain Manager to ensure adequate coverage of all functional aspects of the Shipping/Receiving/Stockroom.

    Physical and Mental Demands:

    • Ability to research, comprehend and retain job related information and instructions.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize work activities, and meet requirements.
    • Ability to frequently work at a computer performing data entry and extracting data for extended periods of time
    • Ability to frequently move about to pull parts and package items for shipment, assemble kits, deliver kits and items to various departments throughout the facility, and to load/unload delivery vehicles.
    • Ability to occasionally move about to access file cabinets and office equipment.
    • Ability to occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
    • Ability to routinely lift and move items weighing up to 10 pounds
    • Ability to operate forklift and other material handling equipment.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
    • Frequently uses computer and operated office equipment (phone, fax, printers, copiers).
    • Frequently communicates with customers, managers, employees, and suppliers. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
    • Ability to read and accurately interpret information.
    • Occasionally moves about the office to access file cabinets and office equipment.
    • Must be able to organize work activities and work areas.
    • Ability to infrequently travel locally and domestically.
