    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    The Junior Accounting Specialist will review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.  Duties to include but not limited to:

    • Processing 3 way P.O. matching invoices, up to 100 plus line items
    • Prioritizing invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms to ensure timely payments
    • Process check requests
    • Respond to all vendor inquiries
    • Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
    • Assist in month end closing
    • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
    • Assist with other projects as needed

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    Required a high school education, plus approximately five (5) years concentrated experience in Accounting with at least two (2) years in Accounts Payable.

     

    *Accounting Degree preferred*

     

    Other Requirements:

     

    The qualified candidate will possess a strong work ethic, be well organized, detail oriented and able to follow filing procedures. Requires proficiency in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch.

    Must have strong organizational and time management skills including problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.

    This position requires a strong knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures.

     

    Must Be Able to:

    • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
    • Interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
    • Work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
    • Perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately
