    Position Summary and Responsibilities


    The Systems Engineer - Enterprise Infrastructure is responsible for the design, implementation, and operation/ maintenance of Teledyne's enterprise infrastructure. This includes Database Administration functions, Microsoft Windows server, RedHat Linux, Citrix, VMWare, and NetApp technology stacks, as well as other associated software and hardware vendors. This is the lead administrator for multiple ERP system's infrastructure and works helps set strategy and support the direction going forward. The position will not have direct management responsibilities; however, will act in a lead role.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • IT Server Infrastructure Policy, Process, and Standards - The position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the ERP infrastructure solutions consistent with IT infrastructure policy, processes, and associated standards. This includes asset management and license compliance from both a hardware and software perspective. The position will also contribute to the development of infrastructure capacity planning.
    • Server - The position will be responsible for multiple ERP server environments. This will include the architecture, -security, administration, project,-and client-needs. The position will install software- - releases, perform system upgrades, install and evaluate new patches, and resolves software related problems.
    • Storage - The position will be responsible for data storage supporting the ERP systems. This will include the architecture of the environment, security, and administration. The position must be experienced with operating systems, Storage Area Networks (SAN), and backup/recovery solutions.
    • Database - The position will be responsible for database infrastructure and administration of multiple SQL and Oracle database servers. This includes architecture of the environment, security, and administration. It does not include application level activities associated with the database.
    • Maintenance - The position will perform regular application administrative tasks, monitor the system, and respond to alerts. The position will work closely with the manager to establish and execute the lifecycle refresh for the ERP infrastructure.
    • General Support -The position will have support responsibilities specific to the most complex server infrastructure problems. Support will require troubleshooting malfunctions of hardware and software applications, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
    • Other duties as assigned


    Note: The person in this position will have an understanding of all components of Server Infrastructure; however, will likely have expertise in one of the three technical areas covered by the position (i.e. Server, Storage or Database). Area of emphasis will be based on current need.


    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • This job has no supervisory responsibilities, but may provide technical leadership to others. This includes and is not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving technically related work problems. It also includes interaction with other technical teams (e.g. network team, client team, applications team, support team, etc.). Additionally, the position will assist with vendor management.

    Education and/or Experience

    • B.S. degree in Computer related discipline or equivalent experience
    • 7-10 years of relevant experience
    • The following certifications are desirable: MCSE, CCNA, Network+, Security+, VCP


    Experience with the following Products/Technologies:

    • 3+ years of experience with:
    • Database Administration (Microsoft SQL, Oracle)
    • Citrix technologies
    • Application administration
    • VMware vSphere
    • Microsoft -Active Directory
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • Microsoft Windows Server technologies: Clustering, Network Load Balancing, DHCP, DNS, IIS
    • Good working knowledge of SharePoint
    • Supporting Technologies: Strong Networking Skills, Familiarity with SAN Fiber Channel
    • Troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Active Directory: Permissions, Group Policy

    Implementations, Login Scripting, General maintenance

    • ERP System knowledge (Microsoft Dynamics, IFS, and CostPoint) - desired
    • Understanding of system architecture related to ERP systems
    • Experience in application performance tuning, planning and implementation of an application environment, troubleshooting and tuning high availability environments
    • Experience in implementing, tuning and troubleshooting application security
    • Experience in troubleshooting and tuning disaster recovery environments
    • Strong understanding of software architecture and programming principles
    • Basic understanding of database architecture including processes, structures
    • Basic understanding of entity relational diagrams and integrity constraints
    • Basic understanding of database security including users and roles
    • Proficiency in usage of SQL
    • Experienced in SSRS, SSIS, SSAS packages
    • AntiVirus software and strategies
    • Dell and HP server troubleshooting and repair
    • Storage concepts and technologies - NetApp, HP, etc...
    • Remote Management Methodologies, Microsoft System Center & Operations Manager, and configuration management and monitoring system concepts (e.g., WMI, SNMP, etc.)
    • Server backup strategies, methodologies, and solutions (CommVault)- desired
    • Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.)
    • Support ticketing systems, change control methodologies and their importance to ITIL best practices
    • IT security concepts and best practices (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, etc.)
    • Business Recovery practices
    • Ability to lead small cross team projects
    • Some ability with scripting
    • Experience in providing technical services in a Customer Service Environment

    Other Qualifications

    • Ability to be part of an on-call rotation and available as needed for quick response situations
    • Ability to travel as needed, domestically/internationally (approximately 10%)
    • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain/maintain government security clearance required. Active Government Security Clearance preferred.
