    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Summary Responsible for the research and development of new products and systems by performing the following duties.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


    • Responsible for designing, modifying and evaluating mechanical parts, components or integrated mechanical subsystems.
    • Determines design approaches and parameters.
    • Conceptual understanding of design requirements (after a design review discussion) to the point of being able to access the "fit" of the written specifications/parameters to their respective technical discipline.
    • Develop procedures/instructions for experiments (after a design review discussion0 to the point of being able to access the "fit" of the written specifications/parameters to their respective technical discipline
    • Analyzes equipment to establish operating data and conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.
    • Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
    • May also review vendor capability to support development.
    • Major contributor with ideas and suggestions based on educational and theoretical knowledge.
    • Ability to utilize scientific methodology and practices in order to determine potential problem areas within a project and/or design.
    • Writes engineering reports covering assigned portions of projects, reducing data, making charts, performing computations, and plotting curves/graphs that summarize and extent information.


    Education and/or Experience                                                  


    Bachelor's degree (BS) from four-year college or university in Science or Engineering and a minimum of 1 experience with total-project responsibility and 5+ years pertinent experience with demonstrated proficiency in areas noted above and comprehensive technical knowledge in practiced discipline.


    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Development software; Excel and Word. Working knowledge of PRO-E software and CAD Programs
