    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    The Quality Engineer will report to the LVSA Quality Manager, and will support Space Systems, specifically the Launch Vehicle Stage Adapter (LVSA) project.


     


    The Quality Engineer will work on-site, in the Los Angeles, CA area, at vendor locations to oversee the production of LVSA structural panels.  The Quality Engineer will be responsible for reviewing build paper, approving build start and major process starts on all panels, developing progress reports, conducting root cause investigations, and overseeing non-destructive testing. Travel between vendors in the Los Angeles area, on a daily basis may be required.


     

    Qualifications

    Education:


    Requires at least four years at a recognized level of competence in a related technical field or the equivalent education and experience.  Must be recognized as a specialist in a technical area by competent professional associates and have demonstrated technical leadership capability.


     


    Desired Candidate:



    • BS Degree in an engineering/technical discipline

    • 10 yrs experience developing Space Flight or military hardware

    • Experience working to AS9100 requirements

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Office, PowerPoint, and Word

    • US Citizen

    • Experience working as a source inspector for flight/space hardware

    • Experience performing supplier surveillance for flight/space hardware

    • Experience performing first article inspection activities for flight/space hardware

    • Experience working with DCMA

    • Experience working in machine shop environment

    • NDE Certification

    • Participation in NASA MSFC MRB Boards

    • Familiarity with SLS and LVSA hardware

    • Experience working with vendors who support NASA
