Teledyne SSI has a current opening for an experienced OEM Pump Sales Engineer. The position is responsible for serving current accounts, finding new prospects and growing OEM revenues by identifying customer needs and proposing engineered adaptations of current products to meet instrument and process requirements. Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with at least 5 years job experience is required. In depth knowledge of HPLC pump operation, design considerations and performance parameters preferred. Sales and Engineering experience in the HPLC market segment mandatory.
Sales Engineer Job Duties:
Identifies current and future high-pressure piston pump requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers. Provides product technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests via email, phone, etc.
Establishes new accounts by identifying potential customers via trade shows, email & internet inquiries, etc. Plans and organizes a sales call schedule.
Prepares quotations by studying specifications and related customer documents, and by consulting with SSI Engineering, Accounting and other professional personnel.
Determines improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of SSI products in the customer environment; proposes design changes based on customer feedback.
Oversees implementation of new orders by conferring with Customer Service, Operations & Engineering staff. Ensures initial installation success at new customers.
Assists customers in the use and maintenance of SSI products by providing technical information and training. Gains customer acceptance by proposing cost reductions, operational improvements and optimal use of SSI products in instrument or process.
Prepares Sales Engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and engineering and application trends.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks.
Contributes to team effort within SSI by accomplishing results demanded by position.
