    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    The Process Development Engineer plays a key role in the Front End detector Processing Group. This position is a hands-on technical leader who enjoys working in teams, and excels at communicating technical ideas with team members and customers.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • MCT Detector processing for production including wet and dry etch, photolithography preparation, liftoff and inspection.
    • Promotes a culture of disciplined processing and ensures that all processes are performed in compliance with safety and cleanroom procedures.
    • Ensures that all processes are performed per work instructions and travelers.
    • Design of experiments, mask design, test data analysis and process controls for the effective development of these processes.
    • Identify processing development and improvement efforts to develop, improve and mature processes for production.
    • Supports the development of SPC activities by monitoring SPC parameters, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring that processes are functional and are continuously improved
    • Think outside the box and perform cross-company and cross-department collaboration to leverage existing or emerging capabilities within Teledyne Scientific and Imaging.
    • Interaction with material growers, front- and back-end processors and testers to develop improved material layer structures, processing methods and device designs.
    • Follows and understands cleanroom protocol and AS 9100.


    Qualifications & Competencies


    To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:


    • A strong background in opto-electronic semiconductor devices or similar area of knowledge, particularly HgCdTe structures, but also including SLS or III-V optical semiconductor materials, processes and devices (e.g. InSb, InAb, GaSb, InP, Si, etc.)
    • Strong technical knowledge in engineering and/or chemistry and semiconductor processing methods.
    • Effective communication (written and verbal) of very complex ideas with the ability to communicate to any level of audience.

    • Must be a team player and interact well with fellow engineers and peers.

    • Exhibit excellent verbal, written and communication skills.

    • Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite. (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)

    • Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices

    Education and/or Experience


    • Bachelor's Degree with (5) years of experience or higher or Associate’s Degree with seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience in Array Processing
    • Strong process development experience, particularly dry and wet etch technology, passivation deposition, and feed-forward process controls required.

    • Experience in DOE, process and technology development.

    • Experience in project management, risk assessment/management, cost account management, cost estimation and engineering planning is highly desired, but not required.
