    Position Summary and Responsibilities


    • The R & D Engineer leads mechanical and process design efforts for new products, and support process/design changes to existing products as needed. This role will be integral in the development of TML's expanding product portfolio. This requires a dedicated, and self-motivated individual capable of producing robust products in an efficient and timely manner.

    • The R&D Engineer is responsible for designing all mechanical aspects of products including housing, optical benches, simple cable designs, piping and instrumentation, options and accessories, test fixtures. Perform process engineering duties such as producing machine/assembly/installation drawings, building new product item masters in the Microsoft Dynamics AX, creating labor routes, bills of materials, compiling and implementing Engineering Change Order packages. Test product design and performance to ensure they meet ASTM, EPA, IECEx, ATEX, specifications.

    • This position requires 10% travel.

    Qualifications


    • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS.) from four-year College or university; at least five years’ of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.     • Occasionally this role requires working outdoors at industrial sites at elevations up to 300FT

    • This role requires research and design of new products including drafting, assembling prototypes, field troubleshooting, parts inspection, and technician training.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, either Solidworks or ProE (Creo)

    • Minimal exposure to fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock or vibration.

    • Will consistently stand, walk, talk &hear.

    • Occasionally, carry or lift 10-50 lbs. and will continuously use hands to handle or feel/reaching with hands and arms.

    • Continuously be required to determine distance with vision, determine color, depth perception, peripheral vision and be able to adjust vision focus.

    • Occasionally be in contact with moving mechanical equipment and will continuously be working near moving mechanical part.

    • occasionally will be exposed to vibration, lo-level radiation, fumes or airborne particles (safely below occupational exposure levels); Noise level is moderate.
