We are seeking driven individuals who can help us bring breakthrough technologies to fruition through tight collaborations with our multi-disciplinary teams of scientists and engineers.

    Teledyne is undertaking research to derive new paradigms in machine learning that enable lifelong learning in artificial systems. In contrast to the state-of-the-art in machine learning, the central nervous system is able to effectively detect and incorporate new information as new tasks or contexts are encountered. A particular focus of our work is to translate insights from neuromodulation in biological learning systems to derive mechanisms for adaptive learning in deep neural network architectures.

    We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher with experience in human or animal models of learning or in biologically-inspired machine learning algorithms:

    • The candidate should have a strong interest in computational neuroscience or machine learning with a special focus on deep learning algorithms.
    • We are looking for someone who is excited in contributing their knowledge and ingenuity to addressing these challenges.
    • The position is for one year with the option for time extensions.
    • Opportunities:
      • Ownership of the research, which integrates your ideas into the development of novel machine learning algorithms with a basis in neuroscience.
      • Close collaboration with the PI as well as with other academic and industry teams with machine learning expertise
      • Participation in a consortium of experts in the field to help define the future of artificial intelligence
      • Rapid publication of relevant findings and participation in international conferences


    • Required: strong mathematical skills; comfortable with scripting languages such as Python or Matlab; ability to effectively communicate results and research ideas; have obtained or will obtain within 6-months a Ph.D. in neuroscience, computational neuroscience, machine learning, or computer science/engineering with appropriate experience in neuroscience. US Citizenship.
