    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Applicant must possess a current Secret clearance.


    The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) assists the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and implements information systems security tasks, as required for the safeguarding, handling, and controlling of classified information. Knowledgeable in information systems security in order to assure enforcement of company and government regulations. Knowledge of NISPOM, DAAPM and Risk Management Framework is required.


    Works under the direction of the ISSM and the Facility Security Officer (FSO.) Provides direction and guidance to Systems Administrators (SA) as part of the TBE Industrial Security Program.

    Executes sound internal information systems security inspection skills in accordance with applicable government regulations and company procedures.


    Other position responsibilities include:


    • Assists the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in the development and maintenance of System Security Plans (SSP) and associated artifacts such as the Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M), Risk Assessment Report, and Continuous Monitoring Strategy.
    • Performs periodic hardware/software inventory assessments
    • Collects, analyzes, and stores system audit records.
    • Ensures Configuration Management (CM) for security-related IS software, hardware, and firmware is maintained and documented.
    • Manages user access and conducts user briefings as required.
    • Performs audit reviews such as: physical security, network and application, password administration, file access privileges, etc
    • Supports the development and maintenance of necessary technical documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Performs Security Impact Analysis (SIA) research and assess the impacts of system modifications, technological advances, etc
    • Performs monthly compliance assessments using tools, such as Nessus Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Secure Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), and McAfee Host Based Security System (HBSS)
    • Assists with classified spills/incident response




    Education and experience:


    Requires Associates degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred) in engineering or a closely related field of science. Normally requires approximately four years of applicable professional experience or a combination of graduate study and experience. However, assignments are primarily made on the basis of demonstrated capabilities and reputation in the area of specialization.



    Other Requirements:

    • Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in computer science, information systems, engineering, or other technical discipline involving the information systems field is required.
    • Candidate with an active Security + CE or equivalent approved DoD 8140 (DoD 8570.01) IAM Level I certification is required and CISSP or related certifications are preferred.
    • Prior ISSO/Information Assurance Officer (IAO) or alternate ISSO/IAO experience within the Risk Management Framework.
    • Experience with various information system security assessment/hardening tools - DISA STIGs, SCAP, ACAS, HBSS, Nessus, etc.
    • Experience using a SIEM tool as an audit collection and reduction tool.


    Strongly Preferred:

    • SIPRNet and COMSEC experience is a plus.
