    Position Summary and Responsibilities

     

    SUMMARY

    Performs daily shipping duties of all products for both domestic and international accounts to ensure quality, on time deliveries and executes daily dock receipt of all materials verifying all packaging to be free of damage.  

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Duties:

    • Packaging all products in an efficient and orderly manner in accordance with all shipping procedures, packing slips, order acknowledgements, and customer requirements to meet delivery schedule and maintain product quality.
    • Completes all necessary documentation in accordance with established procedures for both domestic and international shipments.
    • Requisitions services of transportation companies to ship products and ensure on-time delivery.
    • Enters shipping information into various carriers’ automated systems to produce shipping labels and package tracking information.
    • Receives product/material, assures them to be correct and damage free and routes them to appropriate department/personnel.
    • Operates lift equipment according to instructions while complying with safety standards.
    • Transfers inspected/approved items into stock area.
    • Keeps shipping area neat and organized.
    • Notify purchasing of any shipping supply needs.
    • Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities:

    • Identify on-time delivery problems and consult with proper personnel
    • Takes ownership for product transportation, adequacy of package to minimize domestic transit and quality of appearance and packaging.
    • Reports any identifiable problems and job related discrepancies to supervisor.
    • Complies with procedures, policies, and safety instructions.

     

    Qualifications

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  

    1. Be able to lift, move, push, pull and carry parts, bins, boxes, spools, etc. Weight may reach/exceed 100lbs.
    2. Possess a high degree of hand/eye coordination and dexterity.
    3. Must be mobile enough to move about the plant as needed while operating various machines, pull and move inventory, goods, and product.
    4. Handle small, fragile piece parts while working both hands independently.
    5. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiar with the shipping terminology, procedures, equipment, and usage of UPS, Fed-Ex, Yellow, Consignee Billing, C.O.D., and international orders. Must possess basic computer knowledge.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. i.e. the temperature exceeds 90 degrees F on a daily basis during the summer months. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
