Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Works on assignments that are extremely complex in nature where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendations. Constructs, alters or repairs complicated equipment, apparatus, mechanisms or attachments where experimental design is available. Considerable ingenuity and sense of proportion required to produce workable parts, units or models. Analyze troubles and suggest remedial actions. Plans and performs a variety of machine tool, fittings and assembly operations. Makes ordinary tools, jigs and fixtures incidental to work. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments. Requires machine shop experience, comprehensive knowledge and understanding of higher mathematics involved in the application of engineering principles. May provide guidance and training to other non-exempt personnel. Other duties may be assigned.
