    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    General Overview

    The Manufacturing Engineer Intern actively participates in innovate projects and gains valuable hands-on experience to improve yield, quality, process, documentation and/or productivity in a manufacturing environment. Performs manufacturing engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives using established plans and specifications.

     

    The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will work full-time hours during Summer 2018 with the potential for part-time hours during Fall 2018.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Work with engineers on specified projects based upon department/business unit needs.
    • Assigned projects may include review of production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services.
    • Apply academic knowledge and principles of engineering to hands-on projects that increase product performance, improve quality and manufacturability, and reduce costs.
    • Develop technical expertise and organizational skills required for entry level manufacturing engineering of high technology products.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience

    • Actively pursuing BS or MS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. Junior standing or higher.
    • Preference for GPA 3.0 and above.
    • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications, SolidWorks and/or other AutoCAD program.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to perform assigned tasks and complete work on schedule with minimal supervision.
    • Experience with mechanical and electromechanical assemblies preferred.
    • Must possess U.S. citizenship or be a "U.S. Person". (A U.S. Person is defined as a person who is a lawful permanent resident “Green Card holder” as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(20) or who is a ”Protected Individual” as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).)

     

     

    *Relocation or housing is not available for this position. Student should be in a commutable distance to San Diego, CA with reliable transportation during the school semester and summer.
