    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Teledyne Controls currently has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Engineering Lab Technician III for electrical engineering division.  Under general supervision, this position is responsible for providing support to new product development and standard product engineering by building product prototypes and test models.


    Key Functions

    • Perform medium to high complexity wiring per Teledyne standards
    • Perform medium to high complexity soldering of SMT and through-hole components per Teledyne standards
    • Operate data-logging equipment, temperature chambers and common laboratory test equipment
    • Ensure the use of calibrated equipment for all test setups
    • Tear-down, troubleshoot and repair test setups
    • Assemble/Disassemble units-under-test and perform functional testing
    • Perform work to Engineering test outlines/procedures and other informal work instructions
    • Read and understand the essential elements of electrical schematics
    • Perform work from informal Engineering sketches and schematics with limited supervision
    • Perform verification testing of electronic assemblies
    • Maintain engineering and production traveler packages associated with rework tasks
    • Perform board bring-up, configuration and system checkout
    • Troubleshoot complex circuit card assemblies to determine root-cause failures
    • Assist/Train production personnel during production transition of circuit card assemblies
    • Design and develop test methods, practices and protocols associated with electronic assemblies
    • Comply with ESD control methods and procedures
    • Work in compliance with all company safety guidelines
    • Adhere to Teledyne QA standards and specifications



    • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
    • At least three (3) to five (5) years’ of experience in technical assembly, manufacturing, or engineering environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and Abode Acrobat)
    • Experience interpreting technical drawings and documents
    • Ability to interface effectively with support organizations and internal customers and exercise judgment to determine appropriate action
    • Ability to plan and organize, demonstrate excellent time management and support several projects at once
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making 


    • Associate’s Degree in an Engineering/Technical related discipline (Electronics, Engineering Technologies, etc.) 
    • Self-Starter - Takes independent action to identify and solve problems. Seeks out relevant information needed to make decisions. Gets involved with new initiatives
