    Teledyne Brown Engineering (TBE) is hiring an Operations Research Analyst to conduct analyses of expeditionary medical systems and support development of modeling and simulation tools for performing such analysis. 

     

    TBE develops the Joint Medical Planning Tool (JMPT), a discrete event simulation model of casualty treatment and evacuation in the expeditionary environment. It is the primary modeling tool for Department of Defense (DoD) expeditionary medical systems analysis. JMPT analysis affects Combatant Command operational plans and influences future capabilities development across services.

     

    Other Position Responsibilities:

     

    The Operations Research Analyst will apply knowledge and techniques from the fields of systems engineering, decision analysis, reliability engineering, and statistics to support the design, development, and verification and validation of modeling and simulation software, including JMPT.

     

    The OR Analyst will use knowledge of the fields of systems modeling, system simulation, mathematical optimization, and statistics to conduct focused analyses for the Naval Health Research Center and other DoD organizations. The analyst will interface with customers and the software development team, developing and executing analysis plans, authoring technical reports and presentations, presenting results to customers at professional conferences, directly supporting DoD customers with onsite analysis and model development, and occasionally providing training or software support to external users.

     

    ***This position requires the ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance to the level of "Secret"***

     

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

     

    Requires a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or similar program.. No prior work experience is required, however an internship or Co-op or related sub-professional experience is desired.

     

    Other Requirements:

     

    The position may require approximately 10% travel. Must be able perform tasks individually as well as part of a team.

     

    Must possess strong written and verbal communications skills, including data visualization; a robust understanding of basic statistical theory and common applications relevant to simulation modeling; education or experience using discrete event simulation models or commercial simulation software such as Arena, Simio, ProModel etc; familiarity with Microsoft Office products; ability and desire to learn new skills.

     

    Strongly Preferred:

    • BS or MS in Industrial Engineering or Operations Research or similar program.
    • Four plus years of professional work experience in a similar role desired but not mandatory.

    Basic proficiency with relational databases and Structured Query Language (SQL); proficiency in a scripting language such as R, Python, Perl , Matlab etc.; knowledge of software development concepts (object oriented programming, development lifecycles); excellent data manipulation skills (restructuring, parsing, regular expressions); advanced Excel knowledge (VBA, array formulas).
