Position Summary and Responsibilities

Teledyne Controls currently has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Director, Facilities/EHS/Security for our Operations division.  Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for providing leadershp and strategic direction by supporting environmental, health, safety, security, and facilities risk control regulatory compliance.


Key Functions



  • Responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of maintenance of all Teledyne Controls facilities in El Segundo
  • Supervise facility maintenance employees; identify, prioritize, schedule and assign work, adjust to accommodate shifting priorities and emergencies
  • Maintain a culture of excellent customer service and a pro-active approach to support the company’s business operations
  • Responsible for managing and overseeing cafeteria operations
  • Manage and oversee the coordination of space allocation, layout and planning, office moves and workstation installation as well as facilities expansion and relocation
  • Responsible for the implementation and management of a comprehensive maintenance program covering the interior and the exterior of the buildings, as well as factory equipment and machinery
  • Provide expertise in preparing all required documentation for Facility proposals and initiatives to Executives for approval
  • Contract third-party vendors and/or contractors as needed, and provide adequate oversight for the contracted work
  • Provide support and oversight to implement all projects, initiatives, maintenance, and repair services on schedule and within established cost parameters
  • Assure on-going inspection and repair of building and building systems including but not limited to heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Maintain building and equipment records
  • Provide information and reports necessary for the development of capital budgets for the facilities
  • Responsible for administration, service and maintenance of all company vehicles
  • Responsible for developing and executing Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Plan 

Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS):

  • Provide needed oversight for Teledyne Controls Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Program
  • Develop, communicate and teach the strategy and skills for company-wide health and safety initiatives
  • Confirm EHS policies and programs are focused on risk avoidance, managing internal safety and environmental assessment systems, and ensuring compliance
  • Responsible for all Health and Safety related instructions, audits, processes, and guidelines and ensure implementation
  • Lead company's incident management and business continuity planning
  • Maintain a working relationship with the corporate office to ensure compliance and conformance with corporate EHS Policies and Management System
  • Familiar with Safety Management System Standards such as ISO 14001; ISO 45001; ISO 9001; SCAQMD Rule 1124
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, ISO, ANSI, GRI, regulations, requirements and/or initiatives
  • Oversee EHS related permits renewal, modifications and applications
  • Work with Human Resources in administering worker compensation program, reviewing Workers’ Compensation injuries and develop training programs to address most common injuries
  • Conduct regulatory and safety management system audits. Ensure compliance with occupational and environmental health and safety requirements
  • Support external audits from different regulatory agencies as well as Teledyne Corporate audits
  • Conduct monthly and random site inspections of facilities, structures, equipment, vehicles and property for existing or potentially hazardous conditions
  • Manage Hazardous Material disposal process per applicable regulations 


  • Implement company Security procedures and policies to protect the staff, reputation, facility and other company assets
  • Responsible for security screening of all visitors per company guidelines
  • Develop, review, deploy, and constantly improve all security and emergency response plans/procedures for all Teledyne Controls locations
  • Review and report on all threats, risks, investigations and any ongoing issues, providing recommendations for corrective action and/or mitigation strategies 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Will manager direct reports in Facilities, EHS, Reception areas, and staff of contract Security personnel



  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university with a degree in Occupational Health & Safety Management, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Security, or related subject matter
  • At least a minimum of ten plus (10+) years of EHS experience in the laboratory and/or in a manufacturing environment
  • At least a minimum of ten (10) years in a leadership role of progressive experience in leadership, managerial, or supervisory positions
  • Ability to use Security and Badging System; familiarity with various building automation systems
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal and State OSHA regulations for general industry and/or construction
  • Understanding of financial cost drivers and managing budgets
  • Track record of high degree of initiative, creativity, motivation and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office applications knowledge: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Must have a valid CA Driver’s License 
  • This position requires up to 15% of Domestic travel 


  • Certification in Facilities management
  • Experience with security practices and procedures in an manufacturing environment
  • Practical experience required for the following EHS, Facilities, and security disciplines:
    • general occupational health & safety
    • laboratory chemical hygiene plan
    • industrial hygiene
    • solid waste management
    • air regulatory compliance
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
