Position Summary and Responsibilities

General Overview

The Production Supervisor has responsibility for delivering products, spares, and small orders on schedule and within budget. Plans, organizes, and controls combined efforts of supporting functions/resources to support the manufacturing process.  This supervisor will interface with all functional departments.  Ensures that all products in the manufacturing cycle are built with the highest quality possible, and that all processes are correct and performed in a safe manner.  Ensures that all products in the manufacturing cycle are adequately supported by all personnel required to maintain schedule and flow of work on the floor. The supervisor will insure that direct reports are cross-trained appropriately in skillsets to insure continuous flow of product in the event of long term absences, vacations, etc.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the 2nd shift production of Teledyne Impulse products.
  • Follows production schedules and ensures task are completed on time.
  • Reports schedule and production output status to management.
  • Oversees and supervises entire shift staff, responsible for scheduling time-off and approving time cards.
  • Identifies and helps fulfill the upcoming day’s orders to improve on time delivery.
  • Implements changes to insure a safe, clean, efficient work environment following lean and 5S principals.
  • Insures assembly personnel stay on task and follow procedures & processes.
  • Consistently removes "roadblocks" for personnel to insure deliveries.
  • Working with assembly personnel, requests new tooling, methods, and documentation to improve processes.
  • Proactive supports both production, quality, and the materials group to identify and solve issues affecting deliveries.
  • Consistently monitors manpower requirements and provides requisitions with necessary justification for approval.
  • Works with all necessary departments to determine space, skillset, and training requirements for new products.
  • Monitors & determines both process & growth training needs and executes training for assembly personnel as required.
  • Drives documentation changes as required to insure that process are followed and formally released prior to shipments.
  • Proactively and continuously searches, implements, & reports cost savings

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position provides direct supervision to second shift employees in manufacturing. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include providing leadership to employees, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required. Associates Degree in related field preferred.
  • Requires at least 3-5 years supervisory experience of production assembly/test personnel.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 6S, and Kaizen required.
  • Working knowledge of ISO preferred.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP.
  • Possess functional knowledge of support department operations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, etc.).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced using manual hydraulic injection molding machines, sandblast machines and a variety of other tools and machines common to the manufacturing industry.
  • Skills to evaluate, coach, train, & motivate personnel.
  • Organizational skills to balance priorities.
  • Experienced with electromechanical systems.
  • Understanding of all product documentation required to produce the product to specification
  • Must possess U.S. citizenship or be a "U.S. Person". (A U.S. Person is defined as a person who is a lawful permanent resident “Green Card holder” as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(20) or who is a ”Protected Individual” as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).)
