    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    • The main purpose of this position is to support the engineering and operations teams primarily in the transition of products from design to manufacturing.
      • Identify and facilitate A3 Kaizen Events utilizing Lean tools to improve efficiencies in requirements flow and transition of design to manufacture. 
      • Engage Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Configuration Control team members and key Operations personnel as contributors to process enhancements.
      • Identify requirements for enhancement of the Change Control and Document Control modules of IFS.
      • Support the Project Team in Technical Applications review of product assembly and test requirements.
      • Team with the Manufacturing Engineering Team to provide data for update of product router templates, standards and work centers.
      • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Technical Writer to develop assembly and test procedures concurrent with the product design phase.
      • Establish and roll out tools to identify correct build and test procedures based on product configuration.  Lead effort to consolidate and improve legacy procedures.
      • Create a Standards liaison with the CAD/Drafting organization.
      • Be cognizant of WINMOPS to ensure procedures and routers are available in a timely manner to support production needs.
    • Work with IT to move procedures to a paperless environment.
    • Assist marketing and sales in quoting new opportunities.
    • Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Process Engineering


    Education and Experience:

    • BS in Engineering – Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer or Engineering Technology
    • Previous experience in Lean processes a plus


    Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • 3 + years of Production Engineering experience:
      • Experience with precision mechanical electrical and optical assemblies required
    • Excellent Coaching skills – ability to transfer knowledge to assembly and test technicians
    • Excellent communication skills, including verbal & written communication
    • Working knowledge of CAD and 3-D solid modeling
    • Excellent Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
    • Working knowledge of MSOffice programs, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook

    Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to spend time sitting at the computer as well as standing in various production areas
