    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Teledyne Controls' currently has an exciting opportunity as a seasoned Senior Software Engineer for our Software Development division.  With minimal supervision, this position is responsible for supporting ground software development by writing of software requirements, developing a software design, implementing the agreed upon design, and writing test procedures to validate the software written.

     

    Key Functions

    • Senior software development team activities to develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs
    • Lead development of software unit and verification plans and documenting results to ensure software system requirements are met, applying existing deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, as well as proficiency in a broad array of technical skills
    • Serves as a subject matter expert for software Operating System domain, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
    • Provides engineering support and coordination with systems engineers and internal vendors to complete specified tasks
    • Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.)  in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields from an accredited four-year college or university
    • At least five (5) to ten (10) years’ of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Strong understanding and application of the principles of software development associated with C/C++ experience as well as light to moderate C#/.NET programming experience in a Windows development environment is essential
    • Ability to utilize debugging/profiling tools effectively
    • Must have a good understanding of networking protocols such as ARP, TCP/IP, and UDP
    • Knowledge of various avionics protocols such as ARINC 429, ARINC 664, ARINC 615, ARINC 615A, MILSTD-1553
    • Experience with and understanding FPGAs, EEPROM and other hardware
    • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • Ability to develop design specifications, author internal documentation, and participate in the review of these documents
    • Must have a track record of delivering products and experience with the complete software lifecycle, including software requirements and design specification, definition, and creation/verification of engineering test procedures
    • This position requires 10% domestic and international travel 

    Preferred

    • Experience preferably in the Aerospace and/or Avionics environment
    • Experience in writing device drivers for Windows and other operating systems such as Linux
    • Experience with embedded Linux development
    • Familiarity with Web technologies (HTTP/REST, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, Angular 2)
    • Knowledge of aircraft data-loading
    • Working experience in using database products such as Oracle/MSSQL/MySQL
    • Experience with and/or understanding of network communications, protocols, and security
    • Experience with low level programming such as BIOS, drivers and/or hardware interfaces
