Position Summary and Responsibilities

Teledyne Controls is seeking an eager and motivated Human Resources Generalist to provide employee relation expertise, leave of absences, HRIS support, performance management, workers compensation to our Engineering departments.  Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and will provide both hands-on tactical solutions and strategic guidance to employees. This position is on a temporary basis at Teledyne Controls in El Segundo, California for an estimated 6 months or longer.

Key Functions

  • Contribute to strategic planning and serve as the primary interface of Engineering Department
  • Address complex employee relations matters, investigate, where appropriate, and provide appropriate recommendations
  • Counsel Managers and employees to improve overall people performance
  • Provide guidance and support in administering human resources policies and procedures to ensure that employees receive fair and reasonable treatment to establish a supportive work environment and to avoid potential legal liabilities
  • Coach line supervisors and managers on dealing with work and people related issues
  • Review and approve all disciplinary actions to ensure consistency, proper documentation, and due process.
  • Provides first line support for all employees’ inquiries. Addresses and resolves employee relations concern in a timely and responsive manner
  • Develop and report against key HR metrics designed to identify and improve progress against team goals
  • Analyze employee exit interviews and collaborate with management to opportunities for improvement
  • Work closely with HR Director and Training and Development to cultivate a positive work environment and develop employee engagement programs
  • Be a trusted resource to managers and employees on a wide variety of human resources topics including policy interpretation, benefits, workers’ compensation, employee investigations, and pay-related issues
  • Develop a strong understanding of all company benefits and perks and effectively articulate those to employees and other stakeholders
  • Process and track leaves of absences and reasonable accommodations



  • BA/BS in Human Resources, Behavioral Sciences, Business Administration or other related field
  • At least three (3) years’ of professional human resources experience required, ideally in a mid-size company (500+ employees), preferably in a high volume, fast pace work environment in an aerospace or manufacturing environment
  • Practical and significant experience in conflict resolution, performance enhancement and employee relations at all levels of a complex engineering and manufacturing organization
  • Comprehensive, thorough knowledge of human resources activities, including payroll, benefits, and California legal compliance
  • Collaborative team player who can communicate effectively with others at a variety of levels within the organization, as well as externally.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Disciplined self-starter with can-do attitude; proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills that demonstrate a proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, both in-person and virtually.
  • Strong skills with the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as experience with HRIS.
  • Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, steadfast integrity and strident on privacy issues.
  • Flexible and adaptable in an ever changing and exciting environment. Comfortable with ambiguity and evolving processes and programs.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications tools: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; 



  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or other relevant certification is a plus
  • Ideally in a mid-size company (500+ employees), preferably in a high volume, fast pace work environment in an aerospace or manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of SharePoint
  • Knowledge of Visio
