Position Summary and Responsibilities

Teledyne Controls is seeking a seasoned Systems Architecture & Design Engineer to provide technical leadership on any size project and have a working knowledge of systems engineering practices, work products and processes and a knowledge of other engineering disciplines’ work products and practices (i.e. software, hardware, electrical).

 

Essential duties:

  • Reviews customer requirements for adequacy and resolves/clarifies any ambiguous, redundant or unverifiable requirements
  • Develops and writes Systems Engineering, Integration and Test Plans
  • Define and Lead Engineering Trade Studies
  • Prepares, reviews and conducts internal and customer Design Reviews
  • Lead definition of internal and external interfaces (ICD’s)
  • Create Systems Requirements Specifications (SRS) from customer requirements.
  • Functionally allocates requirements and determine compliance status
  • Ensures traceability from Customer Requirements to the Systems Requirements Specification to the Hardware and Software Requirements Documents
  • Generates Requirements Traceability, Compliance and Verification Matrices as required
  • Perform traceability from requirements to test and supports transition of hardware and software products from development to production
  • Generate and perform system test procedures to verify hardware and software functions at the unit level and on multi-unit systems
  • Is able to lead System Integration, Design Verification, Validation and Qualification.
  • Is able to be the Technical Lead on a project and provides requirements and direction to the Engineering Team
  • Reviews and coordinates the work products generated by engineering for compliance to the requirements
  • Knowledge of certification test processes, support certification test equipment design and assist in troubleshooting certification failures
  • Support transition of hardware and software products from development to production, and support entry into service and OEM/customer field issues
  • Support Program Office in the technical aspect of schedule, man loading and costing for new and technical refresh designs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or related Engineering disciplines; Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • At least a minimum of Twelve (12) years’ of experience in Systems Engineering or related field in one or all environments: Aerospace, Avionics, Aricraft, or Military Engineering
  • Strong understanding with the use of DOORs for document development and traceability required
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital aircraft interfaces including ARINC 429 and RS422 required
  • Expert with Microsoft Office, Project and Visio, and Abode Acrobat required.
  • Strong understanding with Ethernet technologies and aircraft avionics networks required
  • Knowledge of avionics communications technologies such as WiFi, cellular, VHF, SATCOM and IFE internet required
  • Strong understanding with hardware and software Design Assurance requirements (level C through E) required
  • Design Portioning, Digital Communication, Software Structures required
  • Knowledge of commercial Avionic Data Management related equipment required
  • Ability to write complex systems requirements documents, technical white papers and technical proposals required
  • Familiarity with ARINC/Boeing/Airbus specifications required
  • Familiarity with DO-178/DO-254/DO-160 specifications required
  • Familiarity with GRESS and ABD-100/200 required
  • Clear documentation and presentation skills required. Comfortable working on-site at major aerospace OEMs, domestically and abroad
  • Ability to evaluate software code, Hardware Design Language, Schematics and Mechanical Drawings is also required
  • Hands-on experience with integration design and execution in hardware, software and system labs required
  • Experience dealing with the formal qualification of environmental, electromagnetic, system safety (including Failure Mode Analysis), system security and aircraft certification required
  • Ability to use environmental, electrical, software evaluation and debugging tools required
  • Familiarity with commercial aircraft electrical and electronic environments required
  • Must be available to travel up to 10% domestic and international travel
