    The Stamping Dept at Teledyne Relays is looking for an experienced Tool & Die Maker to join the team.


    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    This candidate is responsible for:

    • performing skilled tasks using a variety of tools to construct, modify, maintain, calibrate and repair machine shop tools, dies, jigs and fixtures 
    • working from blueprints, specifications and diagrams. 
    • working with engineers and tool designers to develop and modify tools. 

    Must be able to:

    • make repairs and inspect tooling dies and punch presses for optimal performance and safety
    • read and work from detailed drawings
    • responsible for setting dies
    • operate cutting tools for die making
    • operate stamping presses: Minster, Bench-master, Bliss-press, and Shear-brake. Pivot-pin and mils
    • make adjustments and repairs to all machines in stamping and tool making operations
    • verify safety functions are operational on all equipment
    • inspect work including 1st article, interface with engineering on tool & die adjustments
    • diagnose potential problems and apply contingencies
    • maintain housekeeping


    • One year certificate from college or technical school with minimum five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Ability to read and intrepret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak effectively to customers, clients and colleagues.
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. 
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Must have basic computer skills for data entry and time keeping purposes.
    • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: occasionally will be required to walk and sit, reach with hands and arms, to speak to ask questions and provide feedback, hear to listen to instructions or feedback, possibly lift and carry up to 100 lbs.; Frequently will need to stand, use hands to finger to handle or feel.
    • VISION REQUIREMENTS: must be able to use close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distant vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up & down or left & right whiles eyes are fixed on a point), and depth perception (3D vision with ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
    • WORK ENVIRONMENT: frequently work with and near moving mechanical parts, experience vibration, noise level is loud due to large equipment and metal work.
    • Candidate must be a US person.
