Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Sr. Continuous Improvement Specialist will define, design and implement continuous improvement programs to ensure programs are integrated vertically and horizontally across organization.


Other Responsibilities Included:


  • Defines improvement projects aligned with business strategies. 
  • Establishes and maintains performance metrics to measure program success. 
  • Seeks opportunity for process excellence throughout the entire supply chain including engineering, contracts/subcontracts, pricing, production operations, quality, procurement, and finance.
  • Seeks continuous improvement in a variety of cross-functional areas including pricing, procurement, production planning and control, quality management, ERP systems, material management, and process reengineering.
  • Analyzes and evaluates existing business processes and identifies process efficiency and effectiveness improvement opportunities such as bottlenecks, business risks, duplicate activities, compliance requirements, and supports process improvement activities.
  • Identifies obstacles to achieving business goals and provides solutions or seeks out appropriate assistance.
  • Analyzes workflows, business processes and applications to enhance, automate and expedite process improvements
  • Requires direct interface with the Program Manager, Business Management, Contracts/Subcontracts, Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Support teams including Production, Production Control, and Quality
  • Partners with management, project champions, and process owners to align process improvement initiatives with business objectives
  • Works with Quality Management to ensure recommended process improvements are aligned with ISO and AS9100 guidelines.
  • Provides recommendations to ERP team for enhancements/changes to systems that may involve custom design, optional and third-party products to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of ERP systems
  • Brings value to customers through the successful and effective use of ERP applications.
  • Proficiency in using systems data and applying analytical methods to identify and characterize supply chain risks, and develop and initiate solutions or mitigations.
  • Provides support to the material planning and control function. Monitors material movement within purchasing, warehouse and production.  Assists in the resolution of MRP and planning discrepancies.
  • Creates and generates reports on material plans and schedules. May use material requirements planning (MRP).
  • Constructs process flow diagrams that illustrate the various business process activities and their interrelationship.
  • Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.


Education and Experience:


Bachelor's degree in technical or business discipline and 12 years’ of directly-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Master’s degree highly preferred and may substitute for 2 years’ experience.


Other Requirements:


  • Extensive knowledge in management of BOMs, inventory, master production schedule, item master, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO and AS9100 quality management systems
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen/MRP/Demand-Driven MRP
