Position Summary and Responsibilities

Summary

Teledyne Cable Solutions is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and Facilities manager. The EHS/Facilities Manager is responsible to ensure that all environmental and safety programs, procedures, training, work practices and controls are effectively implemented and enforced, and that all of the Teledyne Cable Solutions facilities (U.S., Canada and Mexico)are adequately maintained through regularly scheduled cleaning and maintenance. In addition, this position will be the EHS/Facility representative for the coordination and management of the sites Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Plan. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the facility environment health and safety (EHS) regulatory compliance program
  • Manage facilities to ensure building maintenance is maintained within compliance
  • Manage the facility Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Program
  • Develop and deliver EHS/Occupational Health and Safety training, including but not limited to hazard communication, machine safety, forklift operation, hazardous waste management, etc.
  • Perform EHS assessments/general program compliance audits (internal & external)
  • Perform occupational health and safety surveys/inspections
  • Conduct routine self-inspections to ensure identification and resolution of environmental issues relating to hazardous waste, air emissions, wastewater and storm water
  • Manage compliance and reporting associated with various permits, licenses and registrations.
  • Interface with environmental regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, routine and special reporting, conducting inspections and obtaining permits.
  • Respond to all environmental, health and safety incidents and commit the required resources to mitigate exposures, if any, to human health and the environment by altering, curtailing or shutting down a process operation if the conditions warrant such action
  • Lead and administer the Emergency Response Program and the elements within, e.g. notification, evacuation procedures, prevention, emergency procedures, emergency equipment, etc.
  • Maintain proper record keeping tools and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory record keeping requirements
  • Lead site cross functional safety committee
  • Take the lead role in conducting incident investigations and implement the necessary response, investigation and reporting actions. Share results of investigation with appropriate company personnel and Teledyne Cable Solutions Management.
  • Maintain documentation required for operation of commercial vehicles.
  • Develop, revise and implement the TCS Environmental Management System (EMS) and Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) for use at facility.
  • Participate in corporate EHS management team reviews and audits and as necessary identify and implement corrective action plans.
  • Aid administrative personnel in compliance with COSO framework as it pertains to environmental health and safety.
  • Conduct environmental and/or workplace sampling and monitoring as necessary to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct or coordinate industrial hygiene studies and/or Work Hazard Analysis as necessary to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Oversee facility solid waste management program, including the management of hazardous, universal, industrial, and non-hazardous wastes
  • Oversee Department of transportation compliance program, include DOT training programs for hazardous material and/.or hazardous waste shipments
  • Attend corporate EHS Risk Management meetings and provide reports to corporate EHS management team as required.
  • May conduct health and safety audits of other Teledyne facilities.
  • Work with facilities management to address any building-related EHS issues.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, taking facts and information and assembling them into a logical report with well supported conclusions and summaries.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to speak effectively in person or on the telephone to both individuals and teams
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Education and Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university preferred
  • Minimum 2 years related experience in Environmental, Health & Safety, Security and Facilities
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required
  • Process driven
  • Ability to partner with and effectively influence staff and management
  • Applied knowledge and understanding of EHS principles and best practices, regulatory standards, and requirements in context of business activities
  • Knowledge of Texas regulations

Physical Demands

  • Light physical effort up to 30lbs to occasional movement of TCS product or documentation
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk throughout the facility

Work Environment

  • This position requires periods of working behind a desk, performing tasks on computer.
  • Significant periods of standing or walking throughout the facility to interface with other associates.
  • Occasional travel to Canada and Tijuana Mexico

Personal Protective Equipment

  • The use of Safety Glasses is required when walking throughout all production areas of the facility.
  • Steel toes are required in areas of the facility.

 

  • Employee will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
