    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Teledyne Photon Machines, a division of Teledyne Instruments, Inc. is offering an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our exceptional team as a Field Service Engineer stationed out of the Bozeman Montana facility


    The responsibilities of this position are to provide technical, application and service support for Laser Ablation product lines offered by TELEDYNE/Photon Machines in The Americas, and occasionally in other territories worldwide.


    Responsibilities for this position to Include:


    • Conduct on-site installation of complex equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure proper working order
    • Conduct on-site scheduled/planned maintenance visits
    • Provide post-sale technical support on Teledyne Photon Machines LA systems
    • Provide troubleshooting and repair support for customers and other field service personnel
    • Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users and company personnel
    • Travel approximately 50% of the time, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel
    • Complete and submit field service reports
    • Provide training for customers and users on system maintenance
    • Provide feedback to product quality teams
    • Provide appropriate input in writing updating and correcting various Teledyne system documentation
    • Provide input for various reports Including Identifying and Isolating unique problems with system
    • Act as a subject expert and resource for training


    Knowledge and Skill Requirements:


    • Excellent technical problem-solving/troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose problems through systematic analysis
    • The ability to understand basic mechanical and electronic engineering concepts and be able to fit, replace and test mechanical and electronic components in the field
    • Demonstrable excellence in interpersonal communication and the ability to build lasting relationships and collaborations
    • Participate in a team atmosphere with drive, determination and enthusiasm
    • Confidence in demonstrating, teaching, coaching
    • Ability to work independently and responsibly as a commercial professional
    • Ability to self-motivate and organize short-, medium- and long-term work plans
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English language
    • Ability to understand and clearly communicate product advantages and technical features

    High degree of computer proficiency, with literacy in typical Microsoft programs and general email/internet search tools


    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; would also consider those with an Associate's degree (A. A.) in Engineering or an equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and 3 to 5 years related experience in laboratory troubleshooting/repairing analytical equipment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Although not a hard requirement, the ideal candidate would:

    • Have the knowledge that would assist in the development of analytical methods for LA-ICP-MS
    • Have the capacity to create and confidently present commercial and scientific presentation materials in both open forum and face-to-face settings
    • Would provide support to sales channels, customers, prospects, and OEM partners, as the situation warrants, in both pre- and post-sales functions.
