Position Summary and Responsibilities

Designs and implements manufacturing technology to semi-automate/automate production processes. Design and development of analog and digital electronic circuit and/or embedded software. Evaluate, recommend and implement alternative production methodologies to enhance efficiencies and drive innovation. The initial focus is for electro-optical products and applications.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Specify and selects component, software, and equipment that will support transition of current packaging technology to support low-cost, high volume manufacturing.
  • Develop automation software for product line and/or test set-up
  • Trouble shooting circuit board layout design especially in trans impedance amplifiers, analog to digital and single processing circuit.
  • Develop embedded software with microcontroller for optic-electronic product application
  • Create, optimize, execute and troubleshoot automated robust packaging processes.
  • Identify required improvements in the assembly and test processes; make contributions to automation tools that address specific needs
  • Generate documentation of the system and processes
  • Train engineers and technicians on the use of different pieces of equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills/Experience:

  • Proven experience in the selection and implementation of automated equipment in different areas of manufacturing.
  • Solid knowledge of electronic circuits, computer science and engineering, wireless communication. Proven experience in analog, digital circuit design, c/C++/Java programming for embedded and GUI, wireless communication and multi-layer PCB design.
  • Good knowledge of different software packages used in manufacturing automation.
  • Demonstrates experience with embedded software development using C/C++ and graphic user interface (GUI) design using Java;
  • Solid understanding of automation process and development, practically, in electronic packaging
  • Knowledge of infrared detector, Focal Plane Array operation and testing, cryogenics, software and statistics
  • Creative thinking and detail orientation
  • Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)
  • Able to handle multiple challenging unstructured areas of responsibility with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Technology with ten (10) years of professional experience in related engineering discipline such as electronics, computer science, electrical, controls, automation, or industrial engineering.  
  • Advanced degree in Science or Engineering with five (5) years of professional experience is preferred.
