Position Summary and Responsibilities

Description of Role:


Reporting to the VP Sales, this  position will be the account manager for Teledyne CETAC Technologies’  ICP system automation product lines, including autodilution and sample preparation and introduction for specialist applications. The role will primarily focus on the domestic North American market. This position will provide proactive and reactive support to sales channels, customers, prospects, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners as the situation warrants, in mostly pre-sales functions, but with occasional post-sale support. This position will be a focal point of technical and commercial contact for our OEM partner’s sales channels and end-user customers throughout the region. As such, regular travel will be required.


The successful candidate will lead the growth of sales of our ICP automation product lines by planning and implementing actions throughout the sales funnel, with a bias towards technical and practical actions. These will include increasing market awareness of the products, educating, harnessing, influencing and supporting internal and OEM partner sales channels, developing marketing and sales promotional programs and collateral, and effectively demonstrating the products. Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • assistance with generation of technical marketing materials in close collaboration with Product Management
  • proactive organization of events to bring the products to the market
  • performing product demonstrations for active prospects or groups of potentially interested customers,
  • presentation of technical materials at conferences/seminars/user meetings/sales visits,
  • providing technical sales training to internal and external sales channels,
  • providing technical sales support to OEM partner channels and direct sales,
  • providing customer training,
  • providing OEM engineer training,
  • offering applications advice and consultation,
  • occasional instrument problem-solving, field repair and maintenance,
  • occasional product installation,



  • Degree in analytical chemistry, or related field.
  • Knowledge and experience of the practical application of ICP-MS and ICP-AES
  • Demonstrable excellence in interpersonal communication and the ability to build lasting relationships and collaborations
  • Drive, determination and enthusiasm
  • Experience in demonstrating, teaching, coaching
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly as a commercial professional
  • Ability to self-motivate and organize short-, medium- and long-term work plans
  • Experience and confidence in public speaking and presentation
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English language
  • Ability to understand and clearly communicate product advantages and technical features
  • Ability to understand customer applications
  • Ability to create and confidently present commercial and scientific presentation materials in both open forum and face-to-face settings
  • High degree of computer proficiency, with literacy in typical Microsoft programs and general email/internet search tools
  • Ability to travel extensively for business purposes throughout North America (expected travel >50%), with possible occasional international visits
  • Excellent technical problem-solving/troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose problems through systematic analysis
  • The ability to understand basic mechanical and electronic engineering concepts

Highly Desirable:

  •  Deep knowledge and experience of ICP-MS and ICP-OES and their sample introduction techniques, for example a PhD or post-doc position having worked with the techniques extensively, or several years operating these techniques in a laboratory setting
  • Experience in giving product demonstrations
  • Commercial sales experience
  • International travel experience


  • PhD in analytical chemistry, geochemistry or related field
  • Experience in the scientific instruments business
