Visually inspects returned equipment for damage (such as cracked cabinets, broken electrical connectors, etc.) that would allow water to enter and destroy the electronics, then clean and disinfects the exterior surfaces of the instruments using cleaning products, brush, water spray nozzle and deep sink.
Ensure all returned customer equipment is properly received and documented according to ISO policy. This is accomplished using computer programs such as Field Service, SMEAD Link and Excel to look up serial numbers, zip codes, and customer names to determine the appropriate return authorization number. A high degree of attention to detail is required to visually check incoming shipments for evidence of shipping damage, loose parts and verification of serial number information. Contacts the appropriate supervisor if any shipping damage to equipment is found.
Prepares repairs for return shipment to customers by, reviewing orders, verifying serial numbers, descriptions and quantities, grouping units on orders, inspecting units for defects, obtaining any additional parts ordered and transporting repairs/equipment to correct individual or department by using pallet jacks, flat carts and hand trucks.
Performs routine clean-up and major cleaning tasks for the Technical Repair Department as needed as well as maintaining a clean, safe and orderly personal work area.
Assist in department goals by performing other duties as assigned.
Must have the ability to work with drawings and written specifications.
Requires demonstrated ability to memorize and retain techniques and procedures to speed work flow.
Requires excellent communication skills to maintain efficient work flow.
Understanding of operating a computer terminal and using assigned programs to access needed information.
A working knowledge of AC and DC voltage, current and resistance measurements.
Requires the eye hand coordination to use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
Daily exposure to inside environmental conditions. Regular exposure to hazards such as household cleaning products, vapor from water spray and unknown substances such as biological contaminants, & solvents that can be caustic or corrosive. The potential health hazards are Bacterial, Viral, Fungal & Parasitic and can enter a human body through skin contact, inhalation or via hand to mouth contact.
Must wear company provided personal safety apparel when required by the job/tasks being performed.
Requires frequent fingering, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, standing, walking.
Requires frequent set up and tending of equipment, manipulating and transporting packages and equipment handling them with four wheeled and two wheeled carts.
Requires regular reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting of objects from floor or knee level to waist and/or shoulder height. Instruments may be awkward to handle, most weigh less than 20 pounds but position requires physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds with assistance.
