Position Summary and Responsibilities

Summary

Under general supervision, the Shipping/Receiving Clerk has primary responsibility for shipping all out bound material and finished product. This includes final inspection and verification of all documentation and product, and to ensure that it is prepared/packed so that it arrives at the customer's facility in new condition and ready to be deployed. The Shipping/Receiving clerk will also assist with receiving responsibilities.

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Preparation of customer orders for shipment
  • Works with sales on order releases
  • Communicates shipment status with Customer Administration
  • Prioritizes daily shipments
  • Transacts the shipments in ERP
  • Generates shipping labels
  • Insures all export documents are in order
  • Scheduling pickups with customer carriers
  • Organization of the shipping area

 

Secondary duties include:

  • Supports receiving when required including; all inspection of material, entering all required transactions in ERP, follows prioritization protocol, follows FIFO guidelines for inbound material, communicates receipt issues to appropriate personnel, transports materials to appropriate locations.
  • Verifying all documentation is present, and performing 3-way match of quantities received, with purchase order, & packing slip.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Some college experience or professional training or certifications in material handling, shipping or receiving is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of import and export requirements is helpful.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, hand tools and mechanical equipment.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience in utilizing an ERP system for purchase order receipt processing.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with production work order and out-plant processing is helpful.
  • Must possess U.S. citizenship or be a "U.S. Person". (A U.S. Person is defined as a person who is a lawful permanent resident “Green Card holder” as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(20) or who is a ”Protected Individual” as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).)
