Position Summary and Responsibilities

Position Overview:

Senior Cost Accountant at Teledyne DGO will provide advanced cost accounting for the BU.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced cost accounting work including production costs and cost of sales.
  • Provide effective analysis and understanding of COGS actuals.
  • Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products of services.
  • Analyze shop order manufacturing costs and communicate issues to operations managers.
  • Prepare all necessary inventory analyses including inventory reconciliations and inventory turns.
  • Manage and reconcile excess and slow-moving inventory reserves including obtaining the necessary input from all relevant departments.
  • Support the annual budget and monthly forecast process as necessary.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and document business transactions.
  • Coordinate the planning and performance of the annual physical inventory including preparation of the final physical inventory summary and presentation of results.
  • Assists with Bid proposals and future rate setting analysis.
  • Assist in internal and external audit requirements.
  • Assist Controller with special projects as required.
  • Support other members of the Accounting department as needed.
  • Attend weekly production meetings as department representative.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years of solid professional experience with at least 5 years in manufacturing cost accounting.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong ERP system experience, IFS, SAP, Oracle or similar
  • Strong knowledge of Excel (including pivot tables, V lookups, sumifs, etc.)
  • Superior analytical and organizational skills
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented

Physical Demands:

  • Long hours of sitting and working on a computer

Work Environment:

  • This position will mainly work in a quiet office environment
  • Occasionally required to work all over facility for physical inventories, etc. when needed
