Position Summary and Responsibilities


Works with all departments in the organization to create and maintain the shop floor schedule in a high mix, low volume assembly manufacturing group. Ensures production department management is informed about priorities and order specific information. Meets or exceeds customer expectations by utilizing training and experience to create manufacturing schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedules shop orders for all end-item parts, and manufactured sub components to produce assembly products
  • Enters and or modifies shop orders as needed for qty controlled “stock” parts.
  • Updates and or enters shop order labor steps to track additional manufacturing time as required.
  • Utilizes drawings, manufacturing work instructions, process sheets, and other information to determine scheduling methods which best achieve throughput goals and objectives.
  • Works with Engineering to recommend changes to product flow and or process sheets to enhance manufacturability and schedule accuracy.
  • Creates production schedule, updating daily based on numerous priorities.
  • Defines work center resources, shifts, and shop calendars to accurately reflect current and future capacities on an individual manufacturing area basis.
  • Uses material availability information to determine order release dates. Sets order schedule to complete as close to customer wanted date as possible.
  • Communicates with sales, buyer planners, and management as needed to facilitate manufacturing in accordance with production schedule.
  • Reviews and adjusts schedule to accommodate expedite requests when accepted.
  • Reports manufacturing capacities on a weekly basis to operations and production management.
  • Coordinates distribution of production packages and shop orders to the shop floor in accordance with order release dates
  • Communicates with kitting, purchasing, and manufacturing to ensure all products are running in accordance with the schedule.
  • Re-schedules orders based on material and resource availability.
  • Communicates status of late or scheduled late orders to buyer planners and production, recommending over-time or alternate resource allocations to complete products on-time.
  • Organizes and facilitates weekly production meetings to review manufacturing order status.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, taking facts and information and assembling them into a logical report with well supported conclusions and summaries.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, work instructions, process sheets, shop orders, etc.
  • Ability to speak effectively in person or on the telephone to both individuals and teams
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic algebra, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of time are required.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook. Prior experience using a MRP or ERP system is preferred but not required

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Though not a direct supervisory role, the scheduler is required to interface and provide direction to all levels of employees, including production management and supervisory staff.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 2-4 years working in a finite or infinite capacity manufacturing environment

Training Requirements:

  • ISO Lead Auditor
  • Root Causes Analysis
  • Basic Statistics

Physical Demands

  • Light physical effort up to 30lbs to occasional movement of TCS product or documentation
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk throughout the facility

Work Environment

  • This position requires periods of working behind a desk, performing tasks on computer.
  • Significant periods of standing or walking throughout the facility to interface with other associates.
  • Occasional travel, including overseas

Personal Protective Equipment

  • The use of Safety Glasses is required when walking throughout all production areas of the facility.
  • Steel toes are required in areas of the facility.


  • Employee will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
