Position Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary:

As a planner, plans, schedules and monitors the production of FPAs from starts of the program through delivery. 75% of the person’s time is expected in this role.

As the inventory lead, leads the inventory team in coordinating and assisting junior staff in performing inventory and material handling duties to meet production schedules. 25% of the person’s time is expected in this role.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 The planner duties are expected to be

  • Maintains the FPA production schedules, collects, manages commit dates, Operations performance to the program need dates
  • Initiates and tracks Purchase Requisitions to support contractual deliveries
  • Updates program master schedule to track WIP, capture commit dates, need dates and future builds for booked programs
  • Works with Program office, Business office, Accounting, Engineering, Quality, Operations to execute manufacturing schedules in a timely manner
  • Anticipates and resolves issues that affect delivery schedules
  • Creates a Material Acquisition Plan by analyzing the inventory requirements and determining the critical path materials and subassemblies
  • Regularly reports manufacturing status, inventory status, issues on all delivery-related products and services to the program managers and functional area leads
  • Prepares manufacturing and inventory status reports as needed
  • Regularly works with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to set up and track work orders, inventory transfers, inventory issues, purchase requisitions, unit costs and more
  • Follows department and Quality procedures, work instructions and forms as required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Supervisory Responsibilities                                                    

Mentors and advises inventory staff in performing:

  • Sorts, posts and files inventory records and production schedules
  • Estimates and records production rates, prepares shop orders and reviews stock records to determine stock status against project requirements
  • Picks up and delivers materials within and outside company and maintains records on material flow
  • Ensure incoming materials are properly routed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications & Competencies

                                                 

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, MRP and inventory control systems
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) in order to maintain database and prepare reports and presentation material
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • High attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices

 

 

Education and/or Experience

                                                 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in setting up, maintaining and implementing enhancements to a Production Control database
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a Buyer or working closely with Procurement in resolving supplier issues/schedule sips is desirable
