Teledyne is looking for an Electrical Engineer or equivalent to support the development of custom controls designed to specification for on-site hydrogen plant generation and advanced power systems. The desired candidates for this position will have demonstrated interest and experience with theory and design of control systems. Hands-on experience with PLC controls is desired. Successful candidate will provide both product line support for a line of Hydrogen Generators, as well as the development of custom control solutions to a unique customer specification. Development of design and fabrication drawings, including P&IDs, Electrical Schematics, and control panel assembly drawings will be part of the job requirements.

Position Summary and Responsibilities



Work Description:

  • Working with a Lead Electrical Engineer or Lead Project Engineer, develop control systems to meet customer/system requirements. Responsibilities to include: interpret requirements, select required hardware, design and or modify PLC programs and screens, and test solution against documented requirements.
  • Develop and review engineering documentation including P&IDs, Electrical Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, Wire Run Lists, Configuration Diagrams, etc. in support of Hydrogen Generation Plants.
  • Support operations in an equipment test lab. Troubleshoot and problem solve technical issues with plant equipment including Hydrogen Generators, Power Supplies, Compressors, Chillers, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Manage an already implemented data acquisition software solution, monitoring it’s performance and ensuring uninterrupted operation.
  • Participate in planning and executing productivity improvements and cost reductions relating to the operations of the equipment test lab.
  • Potential involvement with other energy related projects including batteries and fuel cells.


Education & Experience:


  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • 0-2 years of engineering experience, including co-op experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze data to solve problems
  • Hands on experience with one or more of the following PLC brands: Omron, Siemens, Allen-Bradley.
  • Knowledge or experience with process controls, control valves, sensors, and related instrumentation.
  • Software programming skills to solve complex engineering problems.    
  • Demonstrated experience in Visual Basic, LabView, or similar programming languages.
  • Taking ownership and personally investing in the work effort to deliver excellence
  • Self-motivated and good problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Good communication skills
  • US Citizenship required for Data/Software access.



  • Prior co-op/intern or post degree experience working in controls or electrical engineering.
  • CAD modeling experience
  • Experience running, maintaining, testing, etc. thermal and fluid systems or industrial plant equipment.
  • Academic or hands on experience with hydrogen generation, or similar thermos fluid systems.
  • Provide complex and occasionally innovative solutions to process engineering problems.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server or other database software.
  • Experience with electrical or mechanical repairs to plant equipment
  • Solid interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
