Position Summary and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The role of the Program Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-parties in order to deliver projects according to plan. The process begins with a request for proposal and ends with shipment and invoice of the product to the customer.  The scope of effort covers project execution and customer communication through pre-order scheduling, order entry, engineering design, document release, planning, manufacturing, testing, Quality Assurance and shipment.

Significant duties and responsibilities include:

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with project execution and operations teams.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Develop initial schedule for new products while in the pre-order state.
  • Develop schedule in support of engineering and production promise dates at order entry and through design and build cycle.
  • Manage all internal and external interfaces during project execution.
  • Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Conduct project lessons learned and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Support sales account management functions (sales account management is the primary customer contact).
  • Communicate all issues across organizational boundaries with Sales Management to assure client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate, as required, client visits, project reviews, project status, and satisfaction improvement efforts with sales management and/or the customer.
  • Support production planning monthly revenue goals.


Education and Experience:

  • BS degree in technical studies or engineering preferred. Formal Project Management training preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in Program/Project Management with background in million dollar projects, including contract negotiations, product definition, program scheduling and monitoring, decision making and coordination across functional areas.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Technical aptitude is desired.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills. A “can-do” attitude.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, MS Project, MRP/ERP System basics and Internet.

  • DGO/Marine Industry and/or customer-specific Product Test/Qualification Standards

  • Quiet, office environment 

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Use of safety glasses when in Manufacturing areas
  • Use of steel protective shoes or protective shoe covers when in the Manufacturing area
