Position Summary and Responsibilities

This position is primarily responsible for providing general corporate and intellectual property paralegal and administrative assistance and support to the Teledyne Legal Department and Intellectual Property Committee.  It requires top-notch interpersonal, organizational and computer skills and ability to:  pay attention to detail; meet deadlines; work under pressure and with frequent interruptions.  The ideal candidate will have wide-ranging experience, and the ability to use professional level concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. The position also requires working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors; exercising judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results; networking with key contacts outside one’s own area of expertise; and determining critical methods and procedures on new assignments.   This position has access to and regularly works with sensitive, confidential information.



Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support corporate organizational and maintenance matters, including preparation of minutes, annual report filings and other Secretary of State filings for Teledyne and its subsidiaries.
  • Assist with organization and maintenance of intellectual property portfolios (primarily patent and trademark) and intellectual property title and agreement databases, files, and other records (including updating and archiving them as required).
  • Communicate with established points of contact for various company business units and outside law firms.
  • Calendar and track deadlines and assist with insuring deadlines are met.
  • Periodically assist with due diligence activities and integration support associated with Teledyne’s acquisitions.
  • Review and process legal department invoices for accuracy and assist with their timely payment
  • Assist with researching, reviewing, drafting and filing of various governmental filings
  • Conducts research on projects as directed by corporate paralegals and attorneys.
  • May review and ensure the company’s compliance with regulations.
  • Assists internally in analyzing documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. , although some evening and weekend time may be required at peak times.



BA/BS or equivalent preferred.  Paralegal certificate (ABA approved school preferred) or other legal training/education is required.  6-8 years of experience in a law office or corporate legal department.



  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Access)
  • Ability to perform internet searching in general, and patent and trademark searches in particular would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with USPTO, EPO, and other government online intellectual property databases would be beneficial.


  • U.S. Person for access to ITAR-Controlled Technical Data.

ITAR regulations dictate that information and material pertaining to defense and military related technologies may only be shared with US Persons unless authorization from the Department of State is received or a special exemption is used.

A "U.S. person" can be

  1. A U.S. citizen;
  2. A permanent resident who does not work for a foreign company, a foreign government, or a foreign governmental agency/organization;
  3. A political asylee;
  4. A part of the U.S. government, or
  5. A corporation, business, organization, or group that is incorporated in the United States under U.S. law.

A foreign person is any person who is not a lawful permanent resident of the US and includes foreign governments and organizations.


  • Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately 5%.
