Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Science Data Processing Specialist will provide 24x7 real-time operations support to the Earth Observing System (EOS) Data Operations System (EDOS); operated through the Earth Science Mission Operations (ESMO) Division at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). EDOS performs the science data capture and world-wide delivery for a number of NASA missions.


Other duties to include providing operations and engineering support to the EDOS Level Zero Processing Facility (LZPF), including the on-time production and delivery of science products through nominal and contingency operations; troubleshooting of operational problems; necessary science product reprocessing and re-delivery; and the monitoring of  the ESMO network assets for the Network Operations Center (NOC). 


Candidate is expected to complete all training necessary for the specialist position.


Education and Experience:


Requires a minimum of a B.S. degree in a recognized field of engineering, mathematics, or computer science and a basic knowledge of Engineering/Science .
Strongly Preferred:


Familiarity with Linux Operating System.
