Position Summary and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The main purpose of this position is to design, develop and construct Teledyne interconnect products/systems used in RF transmission applications.
  • Primary responsibilities include the leadership, design and execution of custom products for subsea RF communications between various instruments.
  • Products include connectors, cables and harnesses for use in the subsea defense and commercial industries.
  • Works with Manufacturing and Reliability engineering to design products with high reliability and design life expectancies of 25 years or greater.
  • This position requires multi-tasking several projects simultaneously.  These projects will range from cables designed for RF communication to medium voltage electronic circuits (2,000 volts or less) and IEEE communication protocols.
  • Support R&D initiatives and develop new applications requiring appreciable ingenuity and originality.
  • Regularly interfaces with customers to design various products to meet their needs.
  • Regularly interface with customers to develop business in new and existing markets.
  • Generate, review and approve supporting documentation for designs including assembly drawings, detail drawings and assembly/test procedures utilizing personal CAD skills as well as TDGO’s Drafting and Documentation personnel.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing and other departments, as required.
  • Provide input on project schedules and technical risk to project managers and inside sales so accurate quotes and schedules can be created.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Engineering.


Education and Experience:

  • BSEE or related Engineering degree (Master’s preferred/PE a plus)
  • 10+ years experience in electronic Engineering and project leadership
  • 10+ years experience in high reliability design such as space, aerospace, undersea or related fields
  • 10+ years experience in RF cable/circuit design
  • Experience in fiber optic communications is a plus

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in Subsea Engineering, Undersea Defense industry or Offshore Oil & Gas industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience with design of RF cables and transmission paths required.
  • Experience with Ethernet signal transmission.
  • Working knowledge using Network Analyzer test equipment to measure, test and characterize cable system performance.
  • Working knowledge of CAD (Solid Works preferred)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
