Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Utilities Helper I performs routine duties on the buildings and grounds as assigned. Works under the supervision of the Facilities & Maintenance Manager or designee. Receives assignments in the form of verbal or written instructions or similar information.



Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs assigned routine and general maintenance/preventative maintenance tasks on various facilities and equipment such as the Test & Certification Facility and HVAC equipment. 
  • Operates some power equipment, power tools, and manual equipment such as scrubbers and power washers. May operate more complex equipment under supervision or direction as needed.
  • Requires brushing and cleaning activities that require the bending of elbows, knees and hands.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:


Requires a high school education or equivalent. Experience may be substituted.


Physical Requirements:


Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Job requires continuous walking, stooping, bending, stretching, climbing, circular hand motions, gripping of tools and frequent lifting of tools and equipment weighing 5 to 50 pounds.
