The Senior Systems Engineer I serves as the crew interface between ground operations and the International Space Station crew for payload activity responses and resolutions. This position provides a U.S. payload crew perspective on payload operations to ground support personnel at the Payloads Operations Integration Center (POIC) and to other mission control centers. Responsibilities will include both console and office support. Office support may include training facilitation, development, review, execution, and meeting support. This position is staffed by certified flight controllers a minimum of 16 hours/day and 5 days/week. Personnel are required to certify in this position through a flight controller certification program.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering/Science or related field. Normally requires approximately sixteen years of applicable professional experience or a combination of graduate study and experience. However, assignments are primarily made on the basis of demonstrated capabilities and reputation in the area of specialization.
Minimum 5 years work experience supporting ISS Payload Operations or equivalent ISS support experience (10+ years preferred). Previous flight controller certification is required.
