Teledyne LeCroy Corporation located in Chestnut Ridge, NY (Rockland County, NY) is a high tech leading manufacturer of high performance electronic test and measurement equipment.  We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op for Winter/Spring 2018 to support the manufacturing engineering function in the production of oscilloscope probes and cables. This position will work with cross functional teams to support team and individual objectives.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

 

New product transition from design engineering to manufacturing

  • Test setup creation and optimization
  • Fixture design (mechanical and electrical)
  • Create work instructions and train operations staff to build new products

Cost reduction on existing products

  • Re-design existing parts to be more economical and manufacturable
  • Source existing parts from an alternate supplier
  • Vertical integration – Make/buy decisions and transition in house

Work with suppliers on quality issues and design updates

Root Cause/Corrective Action reports on field failures and backlog of DOA’s

Continuous improvement and Kaizen events

Production metrics compilation, analysis, and presentation on a monthly basis

Routing time studies and updates

Front end engineering/quoting on customer cable

Production documentation for wire harness assembly

Bill of materials and part number creation

Research and experimentation on new manufacturing processes related to cable manufacturing

  • Double crimping
  • Sonic welding
  • Micro-coax stripping
  • Teflon stripping on >32awg wires
  • Micro crimping
  • Cross section analysis on micro crimps

Support everyday needs of assemblers, technicians, manufacturing engineers and all other relevant operations functions

Qualifications

Education and experience:

 

  • Current enrollment in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years college credits
