The Senior Engineer has overall responsibility for the planning, development, and execution of payload simulations to include both stand-alone simulations for the Payload Operations and Integration (POI) cadre and payload developer teams and joint simulations with flight control teams from JSC, ESA and JAXA. This position is responsible for ensuring simulations meet training objectives, developing training plans, facilitating simulation debriefs and coordinating with JSC, International Partners (IPs) and Payload Developer (PD) teams as required. Responsibilities also include development of timelines, tools, courseware, scripts, and other documentation associated with each simulation.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering/Science or related field
Minimum 5 years of work experience supporting ISS Payload Operations or equivalent.
The job requires functional knowledge of ISS systems, hardware, software, and crew operations in support of Payload Operations. In addition, candidates should have an understanding of Payload Planning, SOPs, Flight Rules, Payload Regulations and tools related to flight controller job execution. Previous or current certification in a Flight Controller position is highly desired, preferably one with knowledge of Payload operations and execution.
Position requires exceptional communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work alone and with teams. Candidate must be able to meet requirements and testing to certify as a Simulation Supervisor. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
