Position Summary and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Environmental:

  • Administer the Teledyne Battery Products Environmental Management System (EMS):
  1. Develop and review Battery Products EMS policies, practices and procedures along with the development of environmental Compliance Mechanisms.
  2. Verify that TBP policies, practices, procedures, activities and compliance mechanisms are in place and properly operating.
  3. Conduct routine self-inspections to ensure identification and resolution of environmental issues relating to solid and hazardous waste, air emissions, wastewater and storm water.
  4. Interface with environmental regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, routine and special reporting, conducting inspections and obtaining permits.
  5. Provide direction and technical support to TBP personnel responsible for EMS compliance.
  6. Stay abreast of environmental regulations relevant to TBP operations.
  7. Communicate EMS related information to affected TBP employees.
  8. Work with TBP personnel to develop and implement adequate and timely training programs for employees, contractors, and other third party consultants where appropriate.
  9. Identify appropriate labor and financial resources to implement and maintain the EMS.
  10. Respond to all environmental incidents and commit the required resources to mitigate exposures if any to human health and the environment by altering, curtailing or shutting down a process operation if the conditions warrant such action.
  11. Coordinate corrective action measures and conduct follow-up investigation to ensure compliance and resolution with all environmental incidents.
  12. Be accountable and responsible for the operation of TBP Environmental Management System.
  13. Report all Environmental issues to V.P./General Manager, Corporate Legal Department and regulatory agencies, if required.            

 

 

Health and Safety:

  •  Administer the Teledyne Battery Products Health and Safety Management System (HSMS):
  1. Develop and review Battery Products HSMS policies, practices and procedures along with the development of Compliance Mechanisms.
  2. Verify that policies, practices, activities and compliance mechanisms are in place and properly operating.
  3. Stay abreast of health and safety regulations relevant to TBP operations.
  4. Communicate health and safety related information to affected TBP employees.
  5. Work with TBP personnel to develop and implement adequate and timely training programs for employees, contractors, and other third party consultants where appropriate.
  6. Identify appropriate labor and financial resources to implement and maintain the HSMS program.
  7. Investigate and address all health and safety concerns reported by TBP personnel in a timely manner.
  8. Coordinate corrective action measures and conduct follow-up investigation to ensure compliance and resolution with all health and safety incidents and accidents.
  9. Monitor the Medical Surveillance program which includes: air and blood sampling for lead and Medical Evaluations of employees, as required.
  10. Lead and administer the Emergency Response Program and the elements within, e.g. evacuation procedures, prevention, emergency procedures, and emergency equipment, etc..
  11. Maintain proper record keeping tools and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory records management.
  12. Be accountable and responsible for the operation of TBP HSMS.
  13. Report all health and safety issues to V.P./General Manager, Corporate Legal Department and regulatory agencies, if required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university preferred; combination of education and expereince may be substituted for degree
  • Minimum 4 years related experience in Environmental, Safety, Security and Facilities management
  • Experience in a labor-intensive manufacturing environment
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required
  • Process driven with a strong Operational Excellence mindset
  • Ability to partner with and effectively influence staff and management
  • Applied knowledge and understanding of EHS principles and best practices, regulatory standards, and requirements in context of business activities
  • Knowledge of US and California regulations
