Position Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates space hardware for focal plane arrays for Teledyne Imaging Sensors’ Mechanical Design department.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs mechanical systems design, preparation of engineering calculations and related engineering analysis
  • Participates in the decision making for the design of individual components
  • Performs prototyping, assembly simulation, tolerance stack calculations, technical documentation, tool design and fixture design
  • Experience with Bill of Material (BOM) generation
  • Follows through on vendor procurement to design requirements
  • Self-motivated to drive tasks to completion
  • Executes the mechanical design tasks on schedule and within cost and scope
  • Resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions


Qualifications & Competencies  


To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:


  • Strong technical background in mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering design tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices



Education and/or Experience


Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with experience or course work in mechanical engineering design
