Position Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Supports the electrical engineering analyses, design, development, testing and support of embedded systems for Teledyne Imaging Sensors. Also develops software for TIS products and communicates software interface, design, and functionality within the division and to external customers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Works in a hands-on role for all efforts related to electrical engineering design such as: analog and digital circuits, power distribution, I/O, cables/hiring/harnesses, load management, power regulation, signal integrity, high speed and memory data buses, ultra-low noise bias and reference generation, and electrical hardware connector methods in support of program objectives and requirements
  • Works in programs that typically include mixed signal high performance analog designs with embedded FPGA and/or microprocessor based control
  • Works collaboratively with Project Engineers, Manufacturing, Logistics, Mechanical, Quality, Test and other technical disciplines as part of a combined, integrated product team
  • Frequently works with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for tracking and reporting of data
  • Designs, implements and documents PC and microcontroller-based software modules for image acquisition, image analysis and instrument communication in close collaboration with the Engineering staff
  • Provides technical and application support to TIS customers regarding SIDECAR ASIC, JADE2 and SAM hardware, and their associated HxRG software and firmware
  • Documents software and generates user manuals and help files
  • Works with Quality Assurance documents compliant to AS9100 standard
  • Provides inputs for program bids as required

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

 

  • Capability to communicate risk informed design trades, make-buy analyses and cost-benefit trades pertaining to requirements and budget constraints
  • Ability to apply engineering disciplines to support design, development, implementation and operation activities
  • Expertise in architecting and designing electronics for the following areas: low noise analog acquisition such as audio or instrument design, power regulation, bias and reference conditioning
  • Custom schematic capture and PCB design skills (Cadence Allegro and OrCAD)
  • Ability to assist in definition, trade-off and design activity
  • Ability to review, evaluate and analyze designs
  • Ability to prepare, review and evaluate documentation, specifications, test plans and procedures
  • Ability to estimate task workload and track program schedules
  • Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices
  • Prior experience with space flight SW and/or HW development strongly desired
  • Experience with FPGA design and debugging techniques strongly desired (Xilinx Virtex and Spartan series devices, Xilinx ISE development environment)
  • Direct design experience (original circuit design and analysis)
  • Direct hands on experience with common electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, etc.
  • PC programming and data analysis environments: C#, VB, C++, IDL, Labview
  • PC hardware integration, including DLLs for frame-grabbers, IEEE-488, USB and serial communication ports
  • Numerical data analysis algorithms and techniques for computing statistics
  • Image visualization methods and graphical display of data

 

 

Education and/or Experience

                                                 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with nine (9) plus years of experience
